        Conference and Workshop on Assistive
   Technologies for Vision and Hearing Impairment


                                  State-of-the-Art and New Challenges

This is the third event in the new international conference series on Assistive Technologies and Rehabilitation Engineering supported by the European Commission.  The two previous events took place in August 2001 in Castelvecchio-Pascoli, Italy and August 2002 in Grenada, Spain
 
European Young Researchers Bursary


The European Commission support will fund a number of bursaries for Young Researchers to attend the conference in Spain. The Bursary will consist of the following:

Conference and Tutorial Fee.

Conference Accommodation and Board: The accommodation costs for five nights in the Conference Hotel will be funded. This will be for the nights of 28th June– 2nd July to allow full attendance at the Tutorial day and the Conference. One extra night may be funded in some circumstances if required to allow  travel to be arranged.  

Travel: Only the  cheapest fares for air or rail (or coach) travel will be funded.  Successful applicants will be notified of the arrangements for claiming fares.


Conditions for Applicant


In accordance with European Commission rules, a young researcher should be a National of a Member State or an Associated State, less than 35 years of age, and active in a Member State or an Associated State at the time of the event. For this event, being active means pursuing assistive technology or rehabilitation engineering research through postgraduate study, or employment at a recognised Research Institute or Higher Education institution or NGO.

Submission Procedure: Completed Application Forms must be received by:  15 December, 2003, and the signed originals should be sent by post to:
