The material is mainly generic, and is aimed at First and Second year undergraduates. The 'Computer Sources' package is also suitable for post-graduate level.
The packages can be used for Library user education, study skill support, EFL courses and distance learning.
The packages are modular in structure and interactive and are intended as teaching material.
This package deals with the evaluation of books and journals. Questions are posed throughout to encourage the development of critical thinking, and cover the areas of scanning, skimming, analysing and assessing according to their needs. Exercises and examples are included to further emphasise the main points.
It can be used in seminars and tutorials or as open-access on teaching clusters. Follow-up tasks could be prepared to compliment the tutorials according to the subject area being addressed.
Each package should take about 30-45 minutes to work through.
