Graduates of this unique degree are fully qualified Electronics
and Electrical Engineers with particular skills in music technology,
allowing them to seek employment in the highly competitive
and lucrative recording and broadcast industries, whilst also
being well qualified for the broader electronics industry
as a whole.

This degree is intended for students who wish to pursue
a degree course in Electronics whilst maintaining an interest
in Music. About one third of the curriculum is given by the
Department of Music and will include the history and repertoire
of music, music and technology , studio techniques and modern
computer-based methods of audio signal synthesis, processing
and control. The electronics part of the course provides a
solid background in electronic and electrical engineering,
including circuit theory, digital and analogue electronics,
acoustics, communications and signal processing together with
computing and mathematics. The aim of this degree programme
is to prepare students for professional practice and management
in music and audio technology engineering, and the design
and operation of systems (both hardware and software) related
to the recording, production and processing of audio/musical
signals. There is also the opportunity to investigate specialist

The degree also provides expertise in professional aspects
including studio management skills.
