The University of Glasgow SHARC Team was established to compete in the DSTL Student Autonomous Underwater Challenge - Europe (SAUC-E) to be held for the first time in August 2006. The aim of the challenge is to design and build an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) that will be able to complete a series of tasks within a set time.
Currently the team consists of individuals drawn from the Departments of Electronics & Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Aerospace Engineering. Not only is the team multidisciplinary, there is a mix of experience in that the team members are a mix of staff, post-graduate and undergraduate students.
